Brent Brennan has been officially hired as the new head coach of the Arizona Wildcats, according to the latest odds.

Brent Brennan was officially announced as the Arizona Wildcats football team’s new head coach on 1/19/24. Before joining Arizona, Brennan served as the head coach at San Jose State, where he compiled a record of 34-48.

The top choice for San Jose State coach is currently favored in the odds.

Brennan is the top candidate to replace Fisch, having served as a graduate assistant at Arizona under respected coach Dick Tomey in 1998. He led San Jose State to two Mountain West championships, winning titles in 2020 and 2023, and has a 34-48 overall record with the Bay Area team.

The 50-year-old California native led the Spartans to a 6-2 record in conference play last season, ultimately earning a spot in the Hawaii Bowl. This marked San Jose State University’s second consecutive postseason appearance, following their participation in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in 2022.

Other candidates being evaluated as potential replacements for Fisch include Johnny Nansen, a former Arizona defensive coordinator who currently serves as co-defensive coordinator at Texas, and Brennan Carroll, the Wildcats’ offensive coordinator. Pete Carroll, Brennan’s father and a successful head coach at USC and the Seattle Seahawks, is also being considered for the position, having won two national titles and a Super Bowl between 2001 and 2023.
