The current status of the Arizona sports betting market following the official launch of Bet365 in Arizona.
On Monday, Bet365 Arizona officially launched as the 18th online sportsbook in the state, taking over as the betting partner of the Ak-Chin Indian Community. Bet365 Arizona received its license to operate in Arizona just over five months ago and began operations after Fubo Sportsbook closed in October 2022, ending their partnership with the Ak-Chin Indian Community.
The company’s statement, released alongside the betting conglomerate’s debut in Arizona, portrayed the 48th State as a lucrative opportunity. It emphasized the impressive figures of over $13.5 billion wagered and $639 million in gaming revenue generated since the market opened in September 2021.
As per a representative from bet365, Arizona’s sports scene is far from average, featuring a plethora of professional and college teams, memorable moments, and thrilling championship events. Just in time for the Big Game, sports enthusiasts in Arizona can now partake in the bet365 experience, complete with premium features such as Bet Boosts, quick In-Game options, and Same Game Parlays.
The journey of Bet365 arriving in Arizona
Bet365’s launch in Arizona was postponed for more than five months after receiving approval for their online sports betting license from the Arizona Department of Gaming in late August. The announcement on Aug. 28 confirmed that Bet365 was the only applicant granted a license for 2023, as Fubo Sportsbook had closed, leaving the Ak-Chin Indian Community without a partner. This decision also allowed nine out of the original ten tribes licensed to operate in the interactive wagering market in Arizona to participate.
In late August, Bet365 obtained a license from the ADG, bridging the gap for the Valley area tribe by becoming their second online sports betting partner alongside Caesars Sportsbook Arizona, which operates the Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel and Casino property.
Chairman Robert Miguel of the Ak-Chin Indian Community is excited about the partnership with bet365 and thankful for their generous donations. He believes that working together will improve the gaming experience for patrons, whether they prefer to visit Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel & Casino or use the online sportsbook in collaboration with bet365.
According to the ADG, the Arizona sports betting industry has seen over $13 billion in wagers and four operators have each exceeded a billion in total handle in the last 27 months, drawing in a steady stream of new participants.
