Undefeated Teams Collide When Cardinals Meet Favored Rams

This Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals will aim for their first 4-0 start since 2012, facing a tough challenge from the undefeated Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams have won eight straight games against the Cardinals since 2017. Most Arizona sports betting apps have Los Angeles as the favorite by approximately 4.5 points.

The Cardinals and Rams will kick off their game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time on Sunday, airing live nationwide on FOX.

Sports betting in Arizona started on September 9, aligning with the start of the NFL season.

Cardinals Sizable Underdogs

The Cardinals are predicted to lose for the first time since Week 1, when they pulled off a surprising win over the Tennessee Titans on the road as 2.5-point underdogs in Arizona NFL betting.

As of Thursday afternoon, DraftKings Arizona and FanDuel Arizona are both favoring Arizona as a 4.5-point underdog, while BetMGM Arizona has the Cardinals listed at +4.

The Cardinals are available at +175 odds on DraftKings and FanDuel, and +160 odds on BetMGM for those considering a moneyline bet.

Rams Rolling at Home

Arizona is seen as a big underdog in Week 4 largely due to the Rams’ impressive record at home this season.

In their two home games, the Rams have scored 68 points and given up only 34 points, including a 10-point win against the defending champions on Sunday.

Matthew Stafford, the veteran quarterback for the Rams, showcased his skills in their 34-24 victory over Tampa Bay. He threw for 343 yards and four touchdowns, outshining the Buccaneers offensively as the Rams totaled 446 yards compared to Tampa Bay’s 407.

In his 13th year as a quarterback, he continues to impress with another strong performance, averaging 314 passing yards per game this season.

Stafford was traded to Los Angeles for QB Jared Goff in the offseason. He is currently ranked fourth in the NFL in passing yards with 942, trailing just behind Kyler Murray who has 1,005 yards.

Wide receiver Cooper Kupp is another key offensive weapon for the Rams, leading the NFL in receptions (25), receiving yards (367), and sharing the most receiving touchdowns (5).

Kyler Murray can’t be stopped.

Murray is the leading candidate to win the NFL MVP award in 2021, with odds of +750 on DraftKings and +700 on BetMGM. He is also a strong contender on FanDuel, tied for fifth with odds of +850.

The quarterback, who previously earned the Heisman Trophy, now ranks third in the NFL for passing yards (1,005) and is tied for fifth in passing touchdowns (7) after three games.

He is currently in a five-way tie for the league lead in rushing touchdowns this season with Carolina Panthers QB Sam Darnold, Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb, Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry, and Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson, all with three touchdowns each.

The Rams cannot be stopped.

In their most recent eight matchups, the Rams have been the dominant team against the Cardinals, winning all of them. They have won five of those games by a margin of 10 points or more.

The most recent victory for the Cardinals over Los Angeles occurred on January 1, 2017, when Arizona secured a dominant 44-6 win against the Rams.

Since then, the Cardinals have been outscored by L.A. by a margin of 251-91 and have failed to score more than 10 points in five of those losses.

The game scheduled for Sunday is anticipated to have higher scoring than previous matchups, with an over/under of 54.5 offered on BetMGM, DraftKings, and FanDuel.

The Cardinals’ ability to finally break their 1,737-day losing streak against the Rams will hinge on Murray and his team’s success in overcoming the Rams’ formidable defense.

We will discover their ability to do so on Sunday afternoon in the sunny region of Southern California.
