Jay Kornegay, VP of SuperBook Sports, believes that more states should follow Arizona’s example.
SuperBook Sports debuted their Arizona sports betting mobile app 169 days ago, becoming the 12th out of 18 licensed operators in the state to launch.
Almost half a year later, Arizona has emerged as a key indicator for Jay Kornegay, the Vice President of Race & Sports Book Operations at a Las Vegas-based operator.
Kornegay was pleased with the initial success of SuperBook Sports as it expanded into Colorado, Nevada, New Jersey, and Tennessee.
Kornegay praised Arizona’s support for their business in an interview with yengols.com, noting that the state has been very supportive in the early stages and is among the top-performing states for their company.
Operator’s Arizona Sports Betting Handle
SuperBook Sports’ plans for expansion in Arizona
Kornegay reports that SuperBook Sports has seen a handle of approximately $3.7 million since its debut on December 21st, as per the most recent information from the Arizona Department of Gaming, up to the end of March.
SuperBook’s monthly revenue has experienced significant fluctuations, rising from $171,091.94 in December to a peak of $1.415 million in February before dropping by 21.9% to $1.104 million in March.
Kornegay is optimistic about the increasing momentum of SuperBook’s operations, particularly with the upcoming full NFL season and extensive advertising efforts enhancing the company’s visibility in a highly competitive market.
Kornegay announced that as we grow, we will follow our successful strategy from other states by boosting our marketing budget. This increase is expected to occur during the mid-to-late summer and fall, aligning with the return of football season, rather than in the early summer months. Our objective is to enhance our market presence in Arizona through this approach.
SuperBook Sports’ strategy for expanding in Arizona involves increasing brand awareness through targeted marketing campaigns and partnerships with local businesses. The company also plans to offer a wide range of betting options and exclusive promotions to attract new customers. Additionally, SuperBook Sports will focus on providing exceptional customer service to ensure a positive experience for every player in the state.
The leading companies in the mobile sports betting sector, such as DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM Arizona, and Caesars Sportsbook, have emerged as the dominant forces in Arizona when it comes to managing bets.
Since September, the four Arizona betting apps listed above have collectively accumulated between $495.3 million (Caesars) and $1.079 billion (DraftKings) in bets.
The top 10 handles from Barstool Sports, WynnBET, Rush Street Interactive, TwinSpires, Unibet Arizona, and SuperBook Sports have brought in a total of $279.038 million.
Despite the challenges, Kornegay remains determined, emphasizing the institutional strengths of SuperBook Sports and their impressive growth in the Arizona market.
Kornegay emphasized that effectively communicating SuperBook’s unique qualities is crucial for increasing market share in Arizona. He highlighted the company’s strengths, such as its longstanding reputation and brand, and over 130 years of experience in bookmaking. Additionally, Kornegay stressed the importance of efficient operations management to set SuperBook apart from competitors in the industry.
Spreading the word is essential. Arizona bettors are encouraged to use multiple betting apps and compare pricing and splits from various operators in order to capitalize on favorable odds when placing bets.
The potential of SuperBook Sports in Arizona
Kornegay did not specify the exact numbers for SuperBook Sports’ handles, but indicated that the operator could potentially experience much higher figures once football season starts.
In general, Kornegay estimated that SuperBook Sports could see its sports betting handle potentially double from its typical $1.235 million this fall, putting it on par with operators like WynnBET and Rush Street Interactive (BetRivers Arizona).
Kornegay is confident in the continued growth in Arizona and highlighted the strong numbers in terms of bettors and ticket sales, which have surpassed expectations.
In general, Kornegay expects that Arizona will be crucial to the operations of SuperBook Sports.
Kornegay announced their intention to boost their time and resources dedicated to Arizona, citing their positive outlook on the state. They anticipate that the ongoing growth they are experiencing will continue in the future.
Kornegay and his team are diligently preparing the company for success in anticipation of the upcoming NFL season in September.
Kornegay clarified that they view this endeavor as a long-term commitment rather than a quick race. Their focus is on executing tasks accurately to benefit both SuperBook Sports and their customers. Their objective is to provide a recognizable brand that connects with their target audience.
