Suns Remain Top Contenders for NBA Title in Arizona Sportsbooks Following Draft Night
The Phoenix Suns, although not making any picks in the two-round event, still managed to create excitement and capture the spotlight during Thursday’s 2022 NBA Draft.
Much of the conversation revolved around the impending free agency of Deandre Ayton, the top pick in the draft.
There were rumors going around that the Suns were thinking about trading Ayton for a package that included at least one player drafted in the current year, but the trade never came to fruition.
Arizona sportsbooks are already focusing on the upcoming 2022-23 NBA season, with Phoenix being considered a frontrunner to win the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.
As of Friday, here are the most recent odds for the Suns and the draft outcomes for multiple Arizona Wildcats.
Top 12 Future Odds for the 2023 NBA Championship
The Suns are considered one of the top contenders for the NBA title in 2023.
The betting futures for the Suns to win the 2023 NBA championship remained unchanged after Thursday’s draft.
According to BetMGM Arizona, the Phoenix team is listed at +900 to win the 2023 title. They are ranked third in terms of odds to win the Western Conference title, behind the Warriors (+275) and Grizzlies (+375), with overall odds at +450.
The Suns have +800 odds to win their first championship at Caesars Sportsbook Arizona.
In FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona, Phoenix is listed at +1000 to win the title, ranking sixth overall, and +480 to win the West, ranking third overall.
Three Arizona Wildcats Selected in the 2022 NBA Draft
Three players who were part of the Arizona Wildcats team that claimed both the Pac-12 regular season and tournament titles last year were drafted into the NBA: Bennedict Mathurin (sixth overall), Dalen Terry (18th overall), and Christian Koloko (33rd overall).
Mathurin became the first Wildcat selected in the lottery since Ayton was chosen first overall in 2018. In addition, Terry, who hails from Montreal, and Koloko were chosen as the 79th, 80th and 81st Wildcats selected in the draft’s history.
Indiana chose the 2022 Pac-12 Player of the Year, Chicago selected Terry, and Toronto picked up Koloko.
Mathurin holds the sixth rank on FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona and has odds of +1500 to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award.
No players from Arizona State, Grand Canyon, or Northern Arizona were chosen in the draft.
FanDuel introduces a new cash-out option at its Phoenix sportsbook.
Before the NBA Draft on Thursday, FanDuel Sportsbook in downtown Phoenix revealed that customers are now able to cash out their retail winnings using the operator’s Arizona betting apps.
Customers at the downtown sportsbook can now redeem winning tickets on their mobile device using the “App Ticket Redemption” feature. Their winnings will be transferred directly to their FanDuel account, saving them time by avoiding the need to wait in line or wait until the end of the game.
According to the updated FanDuel policy, the maximum amount allowed for redemption is $2,000.
