PGA Tour and professional teams in Arizona have secured sponsorship deals.

PGA Tour, Pro Teams Line Up Sponsorship Deals in Arizona

Sponsorships and partnerships are rapidly being formed in a newly legalized sports betting state, with some arrangements being made before official approval.

In mid-April, a betting platform and a major sports organization set the stage for operating in Arizona after the state’s sports betting legislation was approved. Additional platforms soon joined in as final details were being worked out.

How Licenses Will Work

Three days after the state legislature passed the bill on April 12, the law legalizing mobile and retail sports betting, daily fantasy sports wagering, and other gaming activities was signed into effect.

A total of 20 sports betting licenses will be distributed, with half designated for tribes and the other half potentially being awarded to Arizona professional sports teams and leagues.

The Arizona Department of Gaming is in the final stages of crafting regulations for sports betting, including determining a tax rate, before giving the green light to sportsbook operators. Legislators are hopeful that Arizona betting apps will be operational in time for the start of the NFL season in early September.

On April 14, DraftKings and the PGA Tour announced an expansion of their partnership that will enable DraftKings Sportsbook to provide retail and mobile sports betting services in the Arizona market.

Teams Work Quickly

On April 15, the Phoenix Suns and FanDuel Arizona Sportsbook revealed a long-term collaboration following the signing of the bill into law by Gov. Doug Ducey. FanDuel is set to be the official sportsbook and Daily Fantasy Sports partner of the Suns, and will launch a physical sportsbook within the Phoenix Suns Arena ahead of the upcoming 2021-22 NBA season.

Caesars Entertainment and the Arizona Diamondbacks have joined forces to introduce a physical sportsbook and bar at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix. The upcoming sportsbook, bar, and broadcast studio will take the place of Game 7 Grill on the Plaza.

The agreement allows Caesars to enter the mobile sports betting market and participate in sponsorship opportunities for both sports betting and daily fantasy sports with the Diamondbacks.

Arizona sports fans have a variety of choices for betting, as both the Diamondbacks and Suns venues are situated on East Jefferson Street within walking distance of each other.

Further details on the partnership between the PGA and DraftKings

The PGA Tour and DraftKings have partnered to launch a luxurious retail sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale, home of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which was won by Brooks Koepka in early February.

The 2022 edition has been planned for Feb. 10-13.

Last summer, Ezra Kucharz, the chief business officer at DraftKings, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership with the PGA Tour, as DraftKings became the first Official Betting Operator of the PGA Tour. Kucharz emphasized the exciting opportunities for innovation and teamwork between the two entities, mentioning plans to create a distinctive sportsbook that will cater to Arizona sports enthusiasts seeking legal sports betting options.

The PGA Tour and DraftKings have joined forces to introduce a new “19th hole” concept at TPC Scottsdale. This innovative venue will offer fans the opportunity to bet on sports, enjoy tasty food and drinks, and watch games in a friendly environment throughout the year.

The two organizations are working alongside the City of Scottsdale and the Thunderbirds, who host the Waste Management Phoenix Open, to develop and improve the project with the goal of boosting economic, tourism, and charitable benefits for the community.

We are currently assessing various locations at TPC Scottsdale for the retail sportsbook, and details will be shared at a later date.

Partnership with the Waste Management Phoenix Open

DraftKings has been selected as the official sports betting partner of the annual Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale. The PGA Tour and DraftKings will collaborate on marketing initiatives for the event.
