NBA Draft: Wildcats Guard Bennedict Mathurin Among Arizona Sports Betting Lottery Favorites
Fact Checked by Young Ruth

Arizona sports betting sites report that a former Arizona Wildcat is now a top contender for an early NBA Draft pick after an impressive sophomore season.

During the 2021-22 season in Tucson, guard Bennedict Mathurin was honored as the Pac-12 Player of the Year and also secured a spot on the second-team All-American.

Standing at 6-foot-6, the Montreal native led Arizona in scoring, averaging 17.7 points per game. In addition, he provided 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Pac-12 champions, making him a prominent figure on various NBA draft betting odds lists.

According to CBSSports.com’s projections, Mathurin is anticipated to be chosen as the fifth overall pick in the upcoming draft, set to occur in Brooklyn on June 23rd. The Detroit Pistons are likely to select him.

After being selected as the first overall pick by the Phoenix Suns in 2018, former Wildcat Deandre Ayton paved the way for current player Mathurin, who will turn 20 on Sunday. Mathurin hopes to continue the legacy of other Wildcats like Lauri Markkanen, Stanley Johnson, Aaron Gordon, and Derrick Williams who were chosen in the lottery since 2010.
