Murray’s absence from minicamp is not affecting his odds of winning NFL MVP in Arizona sports betting.
Kyler Murray, the standout quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, was conspicuously missing from the team’s optional minicamp on Monday.
Even without Murray, the Cardinals are still firmly positioned in the middle of the Arizona sports betting Super Bowl LVII rankings as they approach the NFL offseason.
Coach Kliff Kingsbury anticipates that the ex-Heisman Trophy recipient will be present at the team’s required minicamp, however, Murray informed NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero that he will not participate with the Cardinals unless they provide him with a contract extension.
Murray’s contract talks started in February, creating so much uncertainty that BetMGM went as far as to offer odds on whether Murray would be the Cardinals’ starter for Game 1.
Murray reached a career milestone after finishing his fourth season in the league with 4,210 yards of offense and 29 touchdowns. Under his leadership, the Cardinals made their first playoff appearance in five years, earning them favor with Arizona NFL bettors all season long.
As we enter the summer season, it’s time to examine the current status of the Cardinals and Murray.
Cardinals remain unlikely to achieve major success this season
The Cardinals are currently positioned in the middle of the pack in terms of their odds for making the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl in the upcoming season.
The chances of Kingsbury’s team winning Super Bowl LVII at their home stadium on DraftKings Sportsbook Arizona are still at +3500, which has remained unchanged since the end of the 2022 NFL Draft last month.
DraftKings Sportsbook oddsmakers have the Cardinals at +2000 to win the NFC and +400 to win the NFC West with Murray leading the team.
Currently, Murray is ranked 11th on the NFL MVP odds board at DraftKings Sportsbook, with odds of +2000.
If Murray and the Cardinals make it to their second Super Bowl in 2023, they would be the third team in a row to achieve this milestone in their own stadium, following in the footsteps of Tampa Bay and the Los Angeles Rams.

Kyler Murray’s Rookie Contract
Murray signed a four-year, $35.7 million rookie contract with the Arizona Cardinals in 2019 as the No. 1 overall pick. In 2022, he will enter the final year of the contract, which includes an escalator clause that raises his base salary from $495,000 in 2019 to $965,000 in 2022. Murray also received a signing bonus of $5,897,481 each year of the contract.
Murray’s rookie contract includes a $4,524,360 roster bonus and a $11,386,841 salary cap hit for the 2022 season, with an average salary of $8,914,504. If a contract extension is not agreed upon, Murray will be a restricted free agent after next season. If a long-term deal is not reached by the end of the 2024 regular season, Murray will become an unrestricted free agent.
HBO has selected the Cardinals to be featured in this year’s season of the hit series Hard Knocks, following last season’s focus on the Dallas Cowboys.
As the season goes on, fans in America will have a front-row seat to the negotiations between the Cardinals’ front office and Murray. The leading sports betting apps in Arizona will be keeping a close eye on the situation.
