The performance of the Arizona Wildcats in the AP Poll since 2012.
Tommy Lloyd’s second year in Tucson is off to an impressive start, with the Arizona Wildcats ranked fifth in the nation and holding a record of 11-1.
After nine months since the Wildcats were knocked out of the Big Dance as a No. 1 seed by the Houston Cougars in the Sweet 16, it appears that Lloyd’s team has bounced back and is ready to face any challenger that crosses their path.
The Wildcats are establishing trust with potential Arizona sports bettors.
Arizona is currently ranked third in the nation for scoring, averaging 90.5 points per game, and third in assists per game with 20.9. This success can be attributed to the impressive growth and improvement shown by several starters this year.
The Wildcats’ leading scorers are forwards Azuolas Tubelis and Oumar Ballo, who average 20.1 and 18.1 points per game, respectively. Combined, they also grab an average of 18 rebounds per game.
Courtney Ramey, a Texas transfer guard, has thrived on the court for the Wildcats after being cleared by the NCAA. He leads the team’s backcourt with averages of 11.8 points and 2.9 assists per game.
Due to their improved performance on the court, oddsmakers are displaying faith in the Wildcats by placing Arizona at +1400 to win their first championship since 1997 at BetMGM Arizona Sportsbook. This puts them in a tie for third place nationally with UCLA.
On BetMGM’s MBB championship odds board, Arizona is ranked just below the team that knocked them out of the tournament last spring and the UConn Huskies.

Evaluating Wildcats as they enter the heart of Pac-12 competition
Arizona has begun conference play by splitting their early season Rocky Mountain road trip against Utah and Colorado.
The Wildcats will begin their 20-game Pac-12 schedule on New Year’s Eve with a road game in Tempe against Arizona State, a 120-mile drive up I-10.
Following that, Arizona will come back to McKale Center to take on Washington and Washington State on January 5th and 7th. They will then head to Oregon the following week to compete against the schools in that state.
Arizona is currently ranked No. 5 in the AP Top 25, marking its highest ranking since the 2013-14 season when they held the top spot in the final poll before Pac-12 play began.
Over the past decade, the Wildcats have consistently made it to at least the Round of 64, Sweet 16, or Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament. Their most recent Final Four appearance was in 2001, and they have maintained a perfect record in the second round during this timeframe.
Lloyd and his team are setting their sights on reaching the Elite Eight for the first time since 2015 this spring, with Arizona sports apps forecasting a promising likelihood of success.
