Arizona State University will be playing as underdogs on the road this Saturday night.

Arizona sportsbooks are now considering ASU an underdog for the first time this year. BetMGM Arizona, DraftKings Arizona, and FanDuel Arizona all have the Sun Devils listed at +3.5.

During Week 3, the Sun Devils (3-1) were only favored by 3.5 points against the BYU Cougars, marking their smallest betting margin of the season. Despite being the favorites, ASU suffered a 27-17 loss in the game.

ASU was predicted to win by 34.5 points against UNLV and 44.5 points against Southern Utah, but did not exceed the expected margin in either game.

Arizona State had a strong showing in their initial Pac-12 matchup against Colorado, coming out on top with a commanding 35-13 victory, beating the -14 point spread.

The UCLA Bruins are piling up.

Herm Edwards’ team is gearing up to take on a tougher opponent this weekend as they face UCLA, who secured a 35-24 victory over Stanford in Palo Alto last weekend.

Fresno State handed the Bruins their sole loss of the season with a late comeback victory, defeating UCLA in Pasadena 40-37.

Prior to that, UCLA secured victories over Hawaii (44-10) and LSU (38-27), matching their win total from the previous year’s abbreviated seven-game schedule.

The last time ASU won at the Rose Bowl was in 2015. In the most recent matchups, the Bruins defeated the Sun Devils with scores of 25-18 and 42-32.

Who are the top players to keep an eye on at UCLA?

UCLA’s offense ranks as one of the best in the nation, averaging 234.3 passing yards and 193.8 rushing yards per game so far this season.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson, the senior quarterback at Westwood, is having a standout season while leading the Bruins’ offense.

The quarterback, in his fourth year playing under UCLA head coach Chip Kelly, has thrown for 919 yards this season, tallying nine touchdowns and just one interception.

This year, the senior has cut back on his rushing attempts, gaining only 118 yards on 45 carries. In his first three seasons, he totaled 578 yards and scored seven touchdowns.

The Las Vegas native had a standout performance, statistically speaking, in his most impressive game of the season. He completed 62.1% of his passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns against the Cardinal. On top of that, he also rushed for 30 yards and scored two touchdowns in UCLA’s 11-point victory in Palo Alto.

Zach Charbonnet, the running back for the Bruins, is a crucial playmaker, with an average of 7.8 yards per carry and seven touchdowns scored this season.

This season, Charbonnet is the top UCLA back with 360 yards, closely followed by Brittain Brown who has 263 yards on 47 carries.

In UCLA’s games, wide receiver Kyle Philips has caught 16 passes for 294 yards and has scored five of the team’s nine touchdown receptions.

ASU’s very own Jayden Daniels Show

Jayden Daniels’ standout performance as Arizona State’s third-year starting quarterback was the highlight of their victory over Colorado last Saturday.

After an impressive beginning to his career, Daniels threw for over 3,500 yards and 22 touchdowns in 16 starts. However, he has struggled to live up to expectations in the first three games of the 2021 season.

At the beginning of the season, Daniels had +1400 odds of winning the Heisman Trophy according to DraftKings Arizona. However, his odds have now risen to +10000.

The junior quarterback has thrown a total of two touchdown passes and three interceptions in the first four games of the season.

Daniel has had outstanding running performances, including scoring two touchdowns in the team’s win over Colorado and rushing for 125 yards in the game against UNLV.

He has scored just four touchdowns this season. He will face a tough UCLA defense that is giving up only 64 rushing yards per game this season.

If Daniels cannot rely on his passing game to jumpstart the Sun Devils’ running game, ASU could be in for a challenging evening on Saturday.

It is uncertain how Daniels and his team will react to being the underdog in 2021 while facing the pressure of the Rose Bowl spotlight for the first time.

It will be either ASU or UCLA walking away from Pasadena with a 4-1 record for the year, determined by the performance of Daniels and Dorian-Robinson on Saturday night.
