Desert Diamond opens sportsbook in Tucson area, expanding sports betting options in Arizona.
The second retail sportsbook facility in the greater Tucson area opened its doors to customers on Thursday.
KOLD-TV in Tucson reported that Desert Diamond Casino, owned by the Tohono O’odham Nation, has recently set up six automated sports betting kiosks at its Sahuarita site close to the sports bar.
The sports betting facilities operated by Kambi Group are situated at a location about 20 miles south of Tucson, alongside Interstate 19.
The collaboration between the tribe and Kambi Group was made public on November 1, following the tribe’s acquisition of one of the 10 mobile sportsbook operator licenses from the Arizona Department of Gaming.
Exciting times ahead for operators in Southern Arizona
Mike Bean, CEO of the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise, is hopeful that the launch of Arizona sports betting will have a positive impact on the Desert Diamond franchise.
Bean expressed enthusiasm about bringing a heightened level of gaming entertainment to casino guests at KOLD. The introduction of the Desert Diamond Sportsbook will further enhance the excitement on the gaming floors, providing a diverse range of options for all to enjoy.
Bean explained that the introduction of Sahuarita sports betting kiosks marks the initial phase of Desert Diamond’s comprehensive sports betting expansion strategy, which will also involve the installation of kiosks at their Tucson and West Valley sites.
Desert Diamond Mobile LLC, a subsidiary of Desert Diamond, is anticipated to be the newest addition to the growing list of Arizona sports betting apps.

The introduction of sports betting kiosks at Desert Diamond’s Sahuarita location comes shortly after the opening of Casino Del Sol’s SolSports venue in south Tucson.
Casino Del Sol, operated by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, officially opened on November 18, thanks to a partnership with Scientific Gaming.
The Casino Del Sol facility boasts a spacious 4,000 square feet, equipped with 60 televisions, six ticket counters, and eight self-service betting kiosks.
As of now, the only retail establishments scheduled to open in the Tucson area are the two tribal facilities. In contrast, numerous tribal and professional sports sportsbooks have already been launched in the larger Phoenix area and northern Arizona.
The BetMGM Arizona sportsbooks have officially opened at Gila River Hotels & Casinos’ Vee Quiva, Wild Horse Pass, and Lone Butte properties. In addition, the Tonto Apache have introduced the TwinSpires Sportsbook Arizona at their Mazatzal Hotel & Casino in Payson.
In a different part of the Valley, Betfred Arizona and We-Ko-Pah Casino have partnered to bring eight self-service kiosks to the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation-owned facility.
Other tribes such as the Quechan Tribe (Unibet Arizona) and San Carlos Apache Tribe (WynnBET Arizona) have been granted licenses but have not yet opened their retail locations.
The Fort Mohave Tribe (SuperBook Sports), Hualapai Tribe (Golden Nugget), and Ak-Chin Indian Community (Fubo Gaming) have decided to remain silent on their expected launch dates for operations in Arizona.
The Phoenix Suns have recently opened a FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona at Footprint Center, while the Arizona Cardinals are preparing to unveil a BetMGM Arizona sportsbook at State Farm Stadium, with the official opening date still pending.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have announced plans to open a Caesars Sportsbook location inside the former Game 7 Grill, situated just outside the main entrance of the stadium. The facility is set to open in early 2022, joining in on the sports betting action.
The Arizona Coyotes, along with six other teams, were granted a sportsbook license by the ADG. However, they have opted not to reveal any details about their sportsbook partner or their strategies for sportsbook operations.
