At yengols.com, we primarily focus on Arizona sports betting, but we also enjoy acknowledging important dates on the calendar. May 4th is quickly approaching, a day that holds significance for many individuals.
What makes May 4th so significant? Allow me to explain, young Padawan. May the Fourth has become a celebrated unofficial holiday where enthusiasts of pop culture and cinema unite to pay tribute to the remarkable achievements of George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise.
Since it first debuted in 1977, the franchise has grown to encompass three trilogies, numerous spin-off films, multiple TV shows, numerous novels, and an extensive collection of toys and merchandise that have captivated audiences across multiple generations.
Devotees of the Star Wars series are entranced by the stories of Luke, Leia, and Han Solo, as well as Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren. They eagerly come together on May 4th, also known as “May the Fourth be with you,” to revisit their favorite movies and dive deep into the far-off galaxy.
We were intrigued to find out which Star Wars films Arizona residents favor. Do they lean towards the newer, less popular tales of Rey and Kylo, or do they have a soft spot for the original trilogy that started it all? Even the spin-off “Rogue One” has its share of supporters. Will it make the list?

Arizona Loves The Classics
Congratulations, Arizona, for acknowledging the beginnings of the Star Wars franchise. In The Grand Canyon State, most residents believe that the original film, “A New Hope,” is the greatest in the entire series.
Despite numerous impressive galaxy quests that have followed, the original film still shines as the best. “Star Wars,” released in 1977, remains unmatched even with the beloved “Return of the Jedi” from 1983. George Lucas and his team created unforgettable characters such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Darth Vader, C-3PO, R2D2, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Chewbacca.
Fans have long debated about their favorite characters, and Lucas’ first movie in the series gives them all a chance to shine. While “Empire Strikes Back” has the iconic Vader-father moment, and “Return of the Jedi” wraps up the original trilogy, Arizona residents know that nothing beats the thrill of seeing Luke wield his lightsaber for the first time or Han Solo navigating the Millennium Falcon into hyperspace.
The recent passing of Obi-Wan has left us in mourning, setting the stage for the exciting showdown between Luke and Vader in the upcoming films. These iconic moments, among others, are why “A New Hope” is beloved by Star Wars fans in Arizona.
