Phoenix Suns secure Dunn and Ighodaro in 2024 NBA Draft Picks.

Fact Checked by Washington Erick

The Phoenix Suns’ 2024 season concluded in disappointment in the playoffs, but their future looks promising with the addition of draft picks Ryan Dunn from Virginia and Oso Ighodaro from Marquette to build around in the upcoming NBA offseason.

The Suns have a talented rotation featuring All-Pro players Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, as well as veteran star guard Bradley Beal, giving them a formidable lineup. Nevertheless, they are seeking a young player who can make a significant impact coming off the bench this season. It is likely that one or both of the college players they acquired on Draft night could step up and fill this role.

yengols.com has examined the potential odds for the Suns’ two NBA draft picks as they look to recover from a string of disappointing playoff losses. Keep an eye on yengols.com for the best Arizona sports betting apps all summer long.

Small Forward

In the coming years, Phoenix is prioritizing the enhancement of their center position. Jusuf Nurkic’s injury woes and declining performance at the end of the season have underscored the urgency for upgrades. Furthermore, there is a possibility that backup Bol Bol might leave in NBA free agency. Oso Ighodaro, despite being undersized for the role, could bring valuable shooting skills to the team in the upcoming season.

As of June 24, 2024, before the NBA Draft

The Suns’ draft day trade with the Nuggets altered our chances of selecting the Suns’ original pick at No. 22, resulting in the Suns choosing Dunn six picks later.

Tyler Kolek from Marquette was the initial favorite for James Jones and the Suns’ front office at the 22nd pick. He was listed at +300, with Zach Edey from Purdue at +500, and Isaiah Collier from USC and Kyle Filipowski from Duke both at +700.

Kolek had a standout season in his third year with the Golden Eagles, averaging 15.3 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game. He led the nation in assists and shot an impressive 49.6% from the field, earning praise from Shaka Smart and his teammates.

The player selected as our top pick for Phoenix in 2024 was a consensus second-team All-American. Other potential candidates for the No. 22 pick included Yves Missi from Baylor (+1000) and Pittsburgh guard Carlton Carrington (+1250). However, Kolek was eventually chosen by the Knicks as the 34th overall pick.

Is it possible that Bronny James could become a future member of the Phoenix Suns?

There were naturally rumors swirling about Bronny James before this year’s Draft. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the Suns were considering James, despite his low average of 4.8 points per game at USC. In the end, James was selected by the Lakers in the later rounds, continuing his family legacy.
