New Arizona sports betting apps are predicting that the Arizona State University Sun Devils will have a straightforward opening game.

The start of Arizona sports betting is delayed until September 9th. The Sun Devils will kick off their season on Thursday evening against Southern Utah, a Football Championship Subdivision team, at Sun Devil Stadium.

The Thunderbirds ended the FCS’ shortened spring season with a record of 1-5, placing them second-to-last among the eight Big Sky Conference teams.

Southern Utah suffered narrow defeats in all five games last season, with losses to Northern Arizona twice (34-33 and 28-20), as well as close games against Idaho State (26-24), Idaho (33-32), and Weber State (19-16).

On March 13, the Thunderbirds won their only game of the spring season with a 34-24 victory over Cal Poly.

Southern Utah has reached the FCS Playoff three times since moving up a level in 1993, with their most recent appearance happening in 2017.

The Thunderbirds were defeated 45-14 by San Jose State University in their season opener on Saturday night.

Quarterback Justin Miller showcased strong offensive leadership by completing 15 out of 29 passes for 117 yards. Running back Karris Davis also contributed with a team-leading 32 yards gained on five carries in the loss.

The head coach of Southern Utah University is Demario Warren, who has a record of 18-25.

Looking Forward

The Arizona State University Sun Devils are scheduled to face UNLV at Sun Devil Stadium on September 11th at 7:30 p.m. It is anticipated that the sports betting market in the state will be up and running by that time.
