Arizona betting apps generated $7.680 million in sports betting revenue in June, leading to the collection of $761,801.04 in taxes by the state.
The tax amount saw a substantial 81.4% drop from the previous month’s record-breaking total of $4.1 million in privilege fees in May.
Operators distributed $9.2 million in complimentary bets and promotional credits in June, the lowest amount since the start of sports betting in September and the first time it has been below $10 million.
Similar to other regions, it is expected that these numbers will rise as sports fans in Arizona turn their attention to NFL betting.
The report released on Tuesday shows that Arizona’s sportsbooks, led by Director Ted Vogt of the Arizona Department of Gaming, are on par with national sportsbooks in terms of performance.
According to a press release from the department, ADG Director Ted Vogt announced that Arizona’s sports betting numbers were robust compared to the national average for the typically slower month of June. In June, operators in Arizona collected over $750,000 in privilege fees, bringing the total privilege fees earned since legal operations began in September 2021 to nearly $17 million.
