What states have the highest prices for coffee?

Upon examining the average cost of coffee in every state, it is clear that residents of Arizona are paying more for their daily dose of caffeine. The average price for a cup of coffee in Arizona is $2.88, higher than in New York ($2.87), Massachusetts ($2.82), and Texas ($2.58). This indicates that Arizonans are spending 15% more than the national average of $2.51. Additionally, Arizona ranks third among states for the cost of cappuccinos, with the standard cup priced at $5.45.

Hawaii is in first place with an average price of $3.76 for coffee and $5.96 for a cappuccino, likely because of the high value of Kona coffee. California is a close second at $3.35 for coffee and ranked 12th for cappuccinos. Washington state ranks third with an average coffee cost of $3.09.

Connecticut is the fourth-most expensive state for coffee shops and cafes, with locals spending an average of $2.81 per visit. Nevada follows closely behind at $2.78, and also has the second-highest priced cappuccinos at $5.56. New Jersey comes next at $2.77, followed by Rhode Island at $2.73. Arizona, New York, and Massachusetts have higher coffee shop expenses compared to Connecticut.

Oregon is in the lead, with Vermont, Pennsylvania, and Utah not far behind. Maryland, Colorado, Texas, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Virginia also have coffee prices that are above average.

Which states offer the most affordable coffee for sale?

The most inexpensive coffee in the US can be found in Alabama, where the average cost is $1.88 per cup. Mississippi and Arkansas also have affordable options, priced at $1.99 and $2 respectively. For cappuccinos, residents of Indiana, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania pay the least, with prices ranging from $4.09 to $4.62. Canadians, on the other hand, pay even less at $3.52 per cappuccino.

Tucson is one of the priciest cities for cappuccinos

We have looked into the states that are paying too much for coffee, but what about the cities with the highest-priced cappuccinos?

The average cost of a cup of luxury coffee in Seattle has risen to $6.21, making it the priciest city for coffee lovers. Honolulu, Hawaii comes in a close second at $5.96 per cup.

In Reno, Nevada, a coffee costs $5.66, while in Tucson, Arizona, the average cappuccino is $5.63 – just 10% cheaper than Seattle. Despite the slightly higher price, enjoying a cappuccino while perusing Arizona betting apps on a Saturday morning is not out of the question.

San Antonio and Minneapolis are both ranked sixth for having the most expensive cappuccinos, with an average price of $5.60. They surpass San Jose, Portland, Raleigh, and Las Vegas. Interestingly, New York City, with an average cost of $5.44, does not even make the top ten cities for the priciest cappuccinos.

Methodology

Data was compiled by analyzing menus from over 5,000 coffee shops across the United States from Menuwithprice.com. The results revealed the average cost of coffee in different sizes, excluding prices for alcoholic coffee beverages. Further information on cappuccino prices was obtained from Numbeo.
