Fact Checked by Young Ruth

After a four-year absence, the Arizona Wildcats returned to the men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament, but unfortunately their journey ended in disappointment for fans. Despite this setback, the future appears bright for the team in Tucson.

Following their elimination from the tournament by the fifth-seeded Houston Cougars in a 72-60 defeat during the Sweet 16, the Wildcats are now ranked in the top 10 of the odds for the 2023 national championship on four Arizona sports betting sites.

The NCAA title betting odds for Tommy Lloyd’s team are between +1500 and +2000, suggesting a belief that the Wildcats will bounce back and rebound from their third-round loss.

Below are the betting odds for the Wildcats’ 2023 college basketball season as provided by four of the leading sportsbooks in the state.

Wildcats ranked in the Top 10 on NCAA Title Odds Boards

According to Caesars Sportsbook, the Wildcats have the best opportunity to win their first NCAA title since 1997, with Lloyd’s team having odds listed at +1500.

Arizona is currently in a three-way tie for third place on the site, behind leaders Kansas and Gonzaga.

The Wildcats are ranked ninth on FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona with odds of +1600 in other locations.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook Arizona, the Wildcats and Villanova are both tied for seventh place with odds of +1800.

BetMGM Arizona is currently offering the Wildcats the best odds out of the four sites, putting them at +2000. This ties them with Houston and Michigan for the 10th spot overall in terms of odds.

The Wildcats are hoping to secure their first championship in more than two decades, with their journey set to kick off in November. However, the schedule is still pending finalization.

One Arizona bettor’s futures bets paid off.

A fortunate bettor from Arizona hit the jackpot on a college basketball futures bet this year, scoring a substantial payday.

WynnBET Sportsbook took to social media on Tuesday to share the tale of an Arizona patron who wagered $1,250 on Kansas with +1600 odds last November. The fortunate bettor walked away with a $21,000 prize after the Jayhawks clinched the national championship on Monday.

Should they remain or should they depart now

In order for Wildcats fans to see success next April, Lloyd will need to find replacements for four starters from this year’s team who have all been identified as NBA Draft prospects by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz.

College basketball insiders believe that Bennedict Mathurin, the 2022 Pac-12 Player of the Year and a sophomore guard, is likely to be picked in the lottery by the Portland Trail Blazers at the 10th spot in the draft. They also predict that junior forward Christian Koloko will be selected 27th overall by the Miami Heat.

In ESPN’s mock draft, Dalen Terry, a sophomore guard, was predicted to be the 40th pick to the Charlotte Hornets, while Azuolas Tubelis was projected to go 53rd to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Arizona’s 2022 recruiting class is currently limited in depth with only one signee, four-star center Dylan Anderson from Gilbert. This is head coach Lloyd’s first full season class.

Lloyd and his team have plenty of time to improve Arizona’s roster through traditional high school and international recruiting, as well as utilizing the NCAA transfer portal.

Regardless of the lineup in November, Arizona sports betting apps are confident that the Wildcats will be a powerful team in the Pac-12 and beyond for the 2022-23 season.
