How Do Suns Perform Compared to Preseason Win Totals?
Fact Checked by Young Ruth

With the 2023-24 NBA regular season on the horizon, anticipation is building for Phoenix’s potential success in the Arizona sports betting championship.

The Suns have made significant moves by adding franchise star guard Bradley Beal and 2014 first-round pick Jusuf Nurkic in recent trades. They are determined to surpass their win total from last year after failing to meet their preseason goals in 2022.

The Arizona sportsbook apps have set the Suns’ 2023-24 win total at 52.5 as they gear up for their season opener against Golden State on October 24 in San Francisco. BetArizona examined the team’s performance against their preseason win total dating back to the 2010-11 season using data from SportsOddsHistory.com. The win totals for the 2019-20 season were not included due to the shortened season.

According to BetMGM Arizona, the Suns are listed at +650 to win the NBA title, putting them in fourth place in the league rankings. Boston and Milwaukee are currently tied for first with odds at +400, with defending champion Denver not far behind at +550.

Suns are striving to meet expectations.

Since 2010, Phoenix has surpassed their preseason win total four times, but fell short in eight seasons, including last year’s disappointing -7.5 wins under coach Monty Williams. However, the Suns exceeded expectations in the 2020-21 season (38.5 wins) and the 2021-22 season (51.5 wins), ending a streak of five seasons where they failed to meet their projected win totals.

Caesars Sportsbook Arizona oddsmakers have the Suns listed as a pick-em for their first regular season game against the Warriors, with the over/under set at 232.5 points. A solid performance in late October matchups against the Lakers, Utah, and San Antonio could give the Suns a strong start and potentially help them surpass their preseason win predictions.

The new coach, Frank Vogel, will look to use the early season games to uplift his team’s spirits, as Phoenix looks to bounce back from a playoff loss to Denver in the second round.
