Arizona on track to launch sports betting on September 9th.

Sports Betting On Track For Sept. 9 Launch Date in Arizona

It seems that the start of legalized sports betting in Arizona will proceed as scheduled on Sept. 9.

The Arizona Department of Gaming has received 10 applications from professional sports teams and 15 from tribes for Arizona betting apps, as reported by the department.

Arizona is offering 20 sports wagering licenses, with half designated for sports teams and pro sports facilities, and the other half for Indian tribes. The department is currently evaluating applications from operators. Sports betting is scheduled to begin in Arizona on September 9, aligning with the 2021 Arizona NFL betting opening night.

The department has confirmed via email on Wednesday that the launch of fantasy sports contests on Aug. 28 will proceed as scheduled.

The ADG will determine the eligibility of license applicants by August 16. If there are more applicants than licenses, the deadline will be extended to August 27.

So far, the Arizona Cardinals have collaborated with BetMGM and the Gila River Community, the Arizona Diamondbacks have partnered with Caesars Sportsbook, the Phoenix Suns have joined with FanDuel AZ, and the Phoenix Mercury have entered into an agreement with Bally’s.

Additionally, DraftKings AZ and the PGA Tour/TPC Scottsdale have reached a sportsbook agreement, and Barstool formed a partnership with NASCAR/Phoenix International Raceway earlier this summer.

Phoenix Rising, a team in the United Soccer League Championship, has confirmed a collaboration with an undisclosed operator.

Berke Bakay, the governor of Team Phoenix Rising FC, extended thanks to the Arizona Legislature and Governor Ducey for acknowledging soccer fans in their sports betting initiatives. As Arizona’s premier professional soccer team, Phoenix Rising FC has submitted an application for an Event Wagering Operator’s License in partnership with a leading online sports betting operator. The team is enthusiastic about providing Arizona’s diverse soccer fan base with the opportunity to participate in this thrilling new form of entertainment.

According to a recent survey conducted by yengols.com, it is anticipated that Arizona residents will engage in betting once the market becomes active.
